Fighting traffic noise

There is a new product in the fight against traffic noise: the ‘Whisstone’. The Whisstone achieves sound reduction by deflecting sound waves.

This acoustic principle has never yet been developed into an effective measure. The sound of passing traffic is deflected via low concrete blocks along the road. This leads to a reduction in sound intensity comparable to current measures, such as traffic screens and quiet pavement.

Moreover, it is a measure which does not block the view from vehicles such as cars and trains. The 4Silence company, which developed the Whisstone, is linked to the University of Twente.
